1,065 PNPA personnel undergo drug test; alleged drug sources nabbed

A total 1,065 personnel of the Philippine National Police (PNP) Academy have undergone drug tests, with at least three testing positive for illegal substance use, the PNP said Wednesday.

The PNP said a senior police cadet and two contractual employees tested positive for drug use in tests administered by the PNP Crime Laboratory.

The said employees are under investigation and will face criminal and administrative cases.

Meanwhile, a follow-up investigation on Cadet 1st Class John David Macagba led to a 25-year-old mess hall worker as his alleged source of drugs.

The PNP said the latter has been turned over to the Silang Municipal Police Station along with recovered drug paraphernalia. He will also face charges.

In another operation, authorities nabbed another individual who is believed to be the main supplier of the mess hall worker.

Two sachets of shabu and buy bust money were recovered from the suspect. — Julia Mari Ornedo/BM, GMA News
