QC gov’t apologizes for COVID-19 jab website crash

The Quezon City Government on Friday has issued an apology after its eZConsult website crashed on Thursday night due to a surge of registrants and bookings for COVID-19 vaccination.

According to the local government, the third-party partner that handles the website, Zuellig, said the eZConsult system was unable to handle the volume of concurrent users.

“We are undertaking a careful evaluation of our third party’s performance and ability to handle such a critical task as committed, as our QCitizens deserve nothing but quality service from our providers,” the LGU said in a statement.

The LGU also said it is looking into other ways to facilitate online registration.

Aside from the eZConsult, individuals seeking to register may do so through barangay-assisted booking as well as company/agency-assisted booking, which is exclusive to individuals under the A4 category.

“We aim to maintain the momentum of administering 433,000 doses all the way to achieving population protection, please rest assured that we will continue to look for ways to give you the standard of service you truly deserve,” it said.

Earlier, long lines formed at vaccination centers in Quezon City and Manila.

QC Task Force on COVID-19 head Joseph Juico said the vaccine supply in Quezon City is expected to only last for two to three days due to the high volume of registrants. -- BAP, GMA News
