A total of 893 Filipinos based in Dammam in eastern Saudi Arabia availed of the latest outreach consular services of the Philippine Embassy in Riyadh last November 16.
An eight-member Embassy on Wheels (EOW) team held the consular services at the Aljazeera International School in Dammam from November 16 to 18.
“The team led by Consul Mohd. Noordin Pendosina Noor Lomondot was able to encode 616 electronic passport (e-Passport) applications and processed 133 notarials, five authentication, 27 reports of birth, and 111 passports amendments/extension,” the Department of Foreign Affairs said in a statement.
Philippine Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Ezzedin Tago thanked the community leaders and volunteers in the Eastern Region who helped the Embassy’s consular team.
The next Embassy on Wheels will be on December 8 and 9 in Aljazeera International School in Dammam.
According to the embassy, the EOW will serve those who requested for appointments in October. The December EOW will be the 12th for 2011, and the last for the year.
For 2011, the Embassy conducted 18 EOWs, 12 of them to either Al-Khobar or Dammam.
The 18 EOWs exceeded the 14 consular outreach services conducted in 2010 and 16 in 2009. The Embassy also went to Sakaka, Hail, Buraidah, and Jubail.
The Embassy plans to increase the frequency of EOWs for the Al-Khobar/Dammam area for 2012. — RSJ, GMA News
