Filipino golfer Juvic Pagunsan who is in Dubai in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for the $2.5-million "Omega Dubai Desert Classic" said he found his kababayans there "inspiring." The 34-year-old Pagunsan recently topped the Asian Tour Order of Merit and was named Asian Tour player of the year. In a report of the news site Gulf News, Pagunsan said he was happy that there was a huge Filipino community in Dubai.
"I have already met a few of them during my practice rounds and it is inspiring," Pagunsan told Gulf News. Pagunsan said he was enjoying his stay in Dubai because "the city is fantastic. They have such lovely golf courses, big airports, huge buildings. It's definitely very different from other cities. I really like it." He noted though that he has to make some adjustments to his game because the weather in Dubai was "nice but a little cold and windy and is different from my country."

Pagunsan will face some of the world's top golfers including world number two Rory McIlroy, Lee Westwood and Martin Kaymer.
"I want to continue playing well and keep myself focused. Every golfer wants to play the PGA tours and that is my dream as well," Pagunsan said in the report. - VVP, GMA News
