Saudi Emir lauds Pinoy workers in Jizan region
The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said Jizan Emir Prince Mohammad bin Nasser bin Abdul Aziz lauded some 20,000 Filipinos of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's Jizan region for their professionalism. In a news release, the DFA said: "(The prince) lauded Filipinos for their professionalism, and assured (Philippine Ambassador Ezzedin Tago) that the Saudi authorities ensure that the rights and welfare of expatriates are guaranteed during their stay in the Kingdom." Tago led a team in a one-day visit to Jizan last April 8 to promote economic relations between the Philippines and the Kingdom. With Tago were Philippine Consul General to Jeddah Uriel Norman Garibay and Trade Representative Atty. Paisal Abdullah. The Philippine delegation also met with the Jizan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, headed by Chairman Nasser Al-Murie, and Secretary General Engr. Ahmed Gonfedy. "Ambassador Tago and the Chamber discussed possible cooperation between the Philippine private sector and the Jizan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and promotion of relations in all fields of commerce," the DFA said. The DFA added the Chamber invited Philippine investors to consider investing in the infrastructure and construction projects in the Jizan region. The Chamber also expressed hope that Philippine businessmen would visit the Jizan region in the near future. Meanwhile, the Philippine team briefed the Jizan Chamber of Commerce and Industry on investment opportunities in the Philippines in various sectors.
