Jessica Sanchez performs at White House's Easter Egg Roll
Filipino-Mexican- American belter and American Idol runner-up Jessica Sanchez enthralled the First Family as she sang the United States national anthem at the 2013 White House Easter Egg Roll Monday.
A post on the White House's Twitter account showed Sanchez singing the national anthem, with US President Barack Obama II and First Lady Michelle Obama at the event.
"The First Family listens to @JessicaESanchez sing the National Anthem at the 2013 White House #EasterEggRoll," the White House tweet said.
Sanchez later tweeted, "Thank you @BarackObama & @FLOTUS for inviting me to the @WhiteHouse today for your #EasterEggRoll, such an honor!!!"
Sanchez, 17, had also wowed Filipino fans when she held her concert in Manila last February.
A separate report on Fox News Latino said Sanchez "wowed the First Family and White House guests" with her "power lungs" at the opening of the event at the White House South Lawn.
The Fox News Latino report quoted President Obama as telling the crowd, “It’s Jessica Sanchez everybody! Give her a hand of applause!”
Sanchez rose to fame after finishing runner-up in American Idol Season 11, where she, at one point, was saved by the judges. - VVP, GMA News
