An Indian worker faced a United Arab Emirates (UAE) court on Monday over charges that he sexually harassed a Filipina at the Dubai International City last March.

The Indian, 26, stood trial before the Court of First Instance on the molestation charge, according to a report of the news site Khaleej Times.

The Filipina, 29, a clerk at an advocacy firm, said the incident happened at around 6:00 p.m. on March 13 when he allegedly followed her from the supermarket to her doorstep in a building in International City.

She said she had exited a supermarket and was heading home when the Indian intercepted her, then asked for her name and workplace.

At first, she gave him her mobile number as she thought he might need some legal services from her office.

However, the Indian then followed her to the elevator, and allegedly touched her hair, saying, "your hair is beautiful."

The Filipina then moved his hand away and walked towards her flat, but while she was getting her key, the Indian moved closer and allegedly groped her.

She then yelled and called the police, then gave them the Indian's mobile phone number. - VVP, GMA News
