Palace welcomes PHL's 3-notch climb in 2018 Henley Passport Index

Malacañang on Saturday welcomed the Philippines' three-notch climb in the Henley Passport Index.

"For those who love travel selfies, we are pleased to announced that the Philippines has improved its rankings in the 2018 Henley Passport Index," Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque said in a press conference in Cebu City on Saturday.

In the 2018 Henley Passport Index, the Philippines climbed to the 72nd spot from 75th place

last year out of 199 countries.

"This means all holders of Philippine passports can now enjoy visa-free access to 63 countries worldwide," Roque said.

"We are assuring everyone that the DFA (Department of Foreign Affairs) will continue to look toward securing visa-free access of Filipinos to more countries," he added.

The Henley Passport Index is a global ranking of all foreign passports based on the number of countries that the holder can access visa-free. —Ted Corder/ALG, GMA News
