Kuwait reports first Filipino COVID-19 case

The Philippine Embassy in Kuwait confirmed on Thursday that a Filipino has been infected with coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in the Middle Eastern nation.

The Filipino patient is a female domestic worker who came into close contact with a person who had recently traveled to the United Kingdom.

Local health authorities said the patient is currently in stable condition.

“The embassy reminds all Filipinos in Kuwait to stay at home, follow the instructions of Kuwaiti authorities, and stay healthy during this time,” the statement read.

A total of 130 people in Kuwait have been infected with COVID-19 as of Wednesday, according to the World Health Organization.

Globally, the disease has claimed over 7,000 lives and infected over 191,000 others. -- BAP, GMA News
