Tech CEO resigns after racist tirade against Filipino family in California restaurant

The chief executive officer of a tech-based company who was caught on camera giving racist remarks against a Filipino family in a restaurant in San Francisco, California has stepped down from his post.

According to an article by the San Francisco Chronicle, Michael Lofthouse resigned last week from his position as CEO of Solid8, a Los Gatos information technology strategy company, after he was recorded on video giving the Filipino family the dirty finger and cursing at them.

“I can confirm that I have stepped down from Solid8, terminating all business relationships with immediate effect,” Lofthouse said in a statement.

“I will make it my duty to ensure my personal actions do not continue to have a detrimental impact on those people closest to me,” he added.

In Maki Pulido’s report on GMA News’ “24 Oras” last July 8, Lofthouse told the family that US President Donald Trump was gonna "f--k" them and called them "Asian pieces of sh-t." He also told them that they "need to leave."

Raymond Orosa, one of the family members harassed, said they were only celebrating his wife’s birthday at the restaurant when they were suddenly disturbed by Lofthouse.

Orosa said that was the first time he experienced racism in America.

Due to the harsh remarks, a server of the restaurant immediately defended the family and ordered Lofthouse to leave.

However, Lofthouse continued to insult them even as he left the restaurant, Orosa said.

According to a report on ABC7 News, Lofthouse has since apologized for his “appalling behavior.” — RSJ, GMA News
