16 more Pinoys abroad recover from COVID-19 —DFA


Sixteen more Filipinos overseas have recovered from the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), raising the total number of recoveries to 6,645, the Department of Foreign Affairs said Thursday.

The number of Filipinos abroad who contracted the virus, meanwhile, climbed to 10,424 with five new infections.

The death toll also increased to 786 with one new fatality.

The Middle East/Africa remained the region with the most number of confirmed COVID-19 cases among Filipinos abroad at 7,069 with 505 deaths and 4,248 recoveries.

The Asia Pacific Region followed with 1,370 infections, including eight fatalities and 1,041 recoveries.

In Europe, 1,177 Filipinos were infected with the viral disease with 95 deaths and 892 recoveries.

The Americas, meanwhile, has recorded 808 cases including 178 fatalities and 464 recoveries.

“The DFA shall continue to keep track of the status of overseas Filipinos and stands ready to assist and facilitate repatriations, whenever possible,” the department said. — Ma. Angelica Garcia/BM, GMA News
