Hungary wants to hire more Pinoy workers for hospitality, electronic sectors, envoy says

Hungary's Ambassador to the Philippines Titanilla Toth said Wednesday her country is considering hiring more Filipinos to work in their hospitality and electronic sectors.

This was discussed during the courtesy call of Toth on President-elect Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr.

She mentioned that over 800 Filipinos are already working in Hungary at present, adding that the country is "happy to increase the number in the future."

"We have specific areas in which collaboration can be closer, mostly in hospitality sector like hotels, also in the factories, like many electronic factories are looking forward to skilled workers from the Philippines," Toth said.

"That`s why we also made the cooperation closer because we get TESDA (Technical Education and Skills Development Authority) here. Tesda can be our biggest partner to make trainings before the OFWs (overseas Filipino workers) to enter Hungary," she added.

Further, Toth said Hungary is also eyeing giving scholarships to more students in the Philippines.

"We are already providing 35 scholarships to Filipino students, maybe in the future we can increase that," Toth said. — Anna Felicia Bajo/RSJ, GMA News
