Israel offers assistance to undocumented, overstaying Filipinos who will voluntarily leave

Filipinos who are illegally residing in Israel will receive benefits if they leave the country voluntarily, the Philippine Embassy in Israel said in an advisory.

“Please be informed that Filipino citizens who are illegally residing/overstaying in Israel, and who wish to return to the Philippines voluntarily, may avail of repatriation and reintegration benefits,” it said.

According to the Embassy, it is working with Israels' Population, Immigration, and Border Authority (PIBA) for a “humane and orderly” repatriation of undocumented Filipinos who wish to return to to the Philippines.

Concerned Filipinos who will avail the Voluntary Repatriation Program will receive airport assistance and livelihood development assistance, among others.

DFA Undersecretary Eduardo Menez said the Voluntary Repatriation Program is initiated by the Israeli government and the Philippine Embassy is still waiting for final details.

“The Philippine Embassy is awaiting final details about this Israeli initiative,” he told GMA News Online in a message on Tuesday.—AOL, GMA News
