Person behind love life poll on OWWA Facebook page reprimanded —Arnell Ignacio

A social media practitioner has been reprimanded for posting a survey regarding the love life of Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) chief Arnell Ignacio on the agency's official Facebook page.

The survey asked overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) if they are in favor of Ignacio having a love life.

"This young, aggressive social media practitioner was reprimanded already," Ignacio said in a press briefing on Friday.

"It was all in good intention, kaya lang nilagay niya sa official page [but this social media practitioner posted it on the official page]."

In a disclaimer posted on OWWA's official Facebook page, the agency said the post was "erroneously posted" and that "appropriate action has been taken."

Following the incident, Ignacio said the group in charge of OWWA's Facebook page "is being reorganized."

A former television personality, Ignacio then highlighted the important of giving the right information especially since OWWA deals with sensitive cases of distressed OFWs.

"We have addressed this [mistake]. And when I say we all need the right information, hindi kami exempted roon. Kasali kami roon. That is why took it down already," he said.

(We are not exempted in making sure that our OFWs have access to the right information.)

Ignacio then called on the public to focus on what OWWA could do for the OFWs and not on the now-deleted post.

"There are more significant things to turn our attention to," he said. —KBK, GMA Integrated News
