A consultancy firm recruiting aspiring overseas Filipino workers for jobs in Poland was closed down by the Department of Migrant Workers in Pasay City on Friday.

In a statement, the DMW said the firm was allegedly using social media advertisements and promising jobs as trailer truck drivers and warehouse workers in Poland.

However, the firm allegedly demanding P280,000 “all-in payment” for the processing of the employment documents.

If the applicant cannot afford the one-time payment, he or she is charged with an initial payment of P50,000 and will be referred to their counterpart lending institution to apply for a loan for the payment of the remaining balance.

The firm also allegedly offered jobs to Canada with a processing fee of almost P500,000.

The DMW said the consultancy firm has no authorized license to recruit OFWs and no approved job orders.

“I am reiterating this warning to our kababayans, especially those who want to work overseas. Please, do not deal with consultancy firms that offer to get you jobs abroad. Always check the DMW website (www.dmw.gov.ph) for the list of licensed agencies and approved job orders,” said DMW Officer-in-Charge Hans Leo Cacdac.

The firm and its staff will be added to the DMW’s “List of Persons and Establishments with Derogatory Record” and will be facing illegal recruitment charges.—Jiselle Anne Casucian/AOL, GMA Integrated News
