Organic rice from Cotabato launched in UAE —OFW group


For the first time ever, organic rice produced in the town of M'lang, North Cotabato will be launched in the United Arab Emirates.

Ten tons of organic brown, red, and black rice had arrived and will to be distributed to Dubai supermarkets and restaurants, said Sheryl Bacay, chairperson of the Dubai Entrepinoy Reintegration Program (ERP). 

GMA News contributor Arlene Mariposque said that member OFWs of the ERP were behind the production of the three varieties of organic rice under BIO Dynamic Organic Rice.

"Sa susunod na tatlong buwan ang kanilang panibagong shipment nasa 18 dirhams (P251) kada isang kilo ang halaga ng organic rice malaking tulong ito para sa bansa maging sa mga magsasaka sa M'lang North Cotabato," Bacay said.

Some 120 hectares are dedicated to organic rice production in the town supported by 70 ERP partners, Jessie Quintilla managing partner of Entrepinoy was quoted as saying.

for his part, Philippine Consul General Paul Raymund Cortes said that the ERP program would be big help in promoting the country's agriculture products in the UAE. —LBG, GMA News
