POEA warns against overseas job offers in social media

Not all overseas job offers posted in social media are legitimate, an official of the  Philippine Overseas Employment Administration warned on Tuesday.

Interviewed in Super Radyo dzBB, administrator Bernard Olalia advised job applicants to check their official website if interested in working abroad.

Olalia gave tips for first time applicants of overseas jobs. First, he said overseas job applicants should know the skills required for the job would match their interest.

Second, the applicants should learn the ways and culture of their future workplace.

Ano ho ba yung kultura doon. Ano yung ineexpect nila . Karamihan ng kababayan natin na-ho-homesick agad e,” he said.

Lastly, applicants should check if the overseas job offer is legitimate through POEA’s official website where they can view the accredited agencies.

Olalaia also reminded applicants to talk only with authorized representatives of agencies in their main offices. —Joviland Rita/ LDF, GMA News
