From the third week of August until last September 8, faculty members from the Filipino Department of De La Salle University (DLSU) flew to Venice, Italy.

In partnership with the Filipino Community of Venezia Mestre-Terraferma and the Filipino Chaplaincy of Venice, they gave lectures to second and third generation Filipino migrants about life long skills using the Filipino language.

Aside from teaching life long skills, "Ang Bayanihan Project: Isang Proyektong Kultural Gamit ang Wikang Filipino Tungo sa Pagkatuto ng Kasanayang Panghabambuhay," aims to introduce the Filipino culture to the youth of the Filipino community in Venice.

Part of the project is also for the children to show their creativity in making artworks or production numbers which will also exhibit Filipino values and culture.

"Ang tagumpay ng proyektong ito’y tagumpay ng layuning makapagturo at makapagmulat ng kaalaman at kamalayan sa mga komunidad ng mga Pilipinong nasa Europa, at sa pagsasakatuparan ng Lasalyanong tunguhin na paghubog ng kaisipan at damdamin, at sa pagpapalaganap ng karisma ni St. John Baptist de la Salle," the DLSU Filipino Department said in a report. — BAP, GMA News
