Pinoy band performs in Dubai radio's Valentine's Day special

A Filipino band was invited to grace a Dubai-based radio station’s first ever “pre-Valentine’s Day special.”

“May guesting kami sa TAG 91.1 FM for a pre-Valentine’s Day special radio guesting. It’s the first time the station invited a band to be with them on that program to perform some original songs and be interviewed,” shared drummer Gilbert "Gibbz" Magat of Skwalado in an interview via Messenger last Monday.

“Mahalaga sa amin ito kasi minsan lang din magkaroon ng ganung concept yung radio station lalo na dun palang maririnig yung dalawang original songs namin na ‘Ikaw pa rin’ at ‘Puso mo’,” he added, referring to the songs composed by vocalist and rhythm guitarist Ara Abigael Palomar and lead guitarist Miko Hernandez, respectively.

“Ikaw pa rin” tells a story of a person who experienced great love after a breakup that she thought she would never fall in love again.

“Puso mo,” on the other hand, is a story of a person who is experiencing obsession with someone that he or she is willing to give up or do everything just to get the other person’ affection.

Skwaldo got the attention of TAG 91.1 FM and the Philippine Consulate-Dubai last Christmas.

 

It consequently released a single to nine major online stores.

The single, entitled “Malayo,” was in collaboration with Ney Dimaculangan, the former 6cyclemind vocalist and Magat’s former bandmate. —LBG, GMA News
