Some Pinoy domestic workers in Singapore not allowed to have day off due to COVID-19 threat

Due to the threat of COVID-19 in Singapore, some Filipino domestic workers have not been allowed by their employers to take their day off, according to a report by Dazzelyn Zapata on GMA News' Unang Balita on Monday.

Singapore has raised the second highest alert level in the country due to the novel coronavirus.

An overseas Filipino worker working as store manager of a known clothing brand in Singapore also said the number of shoppers went down by almost 70% and their sales were down.

As a result, the OFW said they have been obligated to use their leave credits and cut down on their working hours.

The number of tourists lessened due to the travel ban and some residents choose to stay home, the OFW added.

The second case of a Filipino infected with COVID-19 has been reported by the Ministry of Health.

Identified as Case 102, the patient is a 41-year-old domestic worker who tested positive on Saturday for COVID-19 along with her 61-year-old Singaporean employer.

Case 102 is currently isolated at the Teng Fong General Hospital.

Meanwhile, Case 89, the first Filipino infected with COVID-19, was already discharged from the hospital after a week's stay.

Singapore has a total of 106 COVID-19 cases. Of this number, 74 have been discharged, 32 are still confined in hospitals and seven are in intensive care units. —KG, GMA News
