Pinoy identified as 15th COVID-19 case in Macau

A Filipino worker has been identified as the 15th case of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Macau, according to the announcement of the Novel Coronavirus Response and Coordination Centre.

In a report posted by Macau News, the patient was identified as a 31-year-old non-resident man who works at a hotel restaurant and that his last day of work was on January 26.

He left to visit his relatives in the Philippines the next day and then returned to Hong Kong on March 16.

The report cited health officials who said the patient had a toothache and a rash for three days and sought treatment at the Kiang Wu Hospital where he was considered a "medium-risk" on March 17.

After diagnosis for the viral nucleic acid testing, he returned to his home. His throat swab sample was sent to the Public Health Laboratory of the Health Bureau (SSM) for testing and was fond to be positive for the virus that causes COVID-19.

He is confined in an isolation ward at the Conde S. Januário Hospital for treatment.

The patient's residence in Taipa Island has been cleaned and disinfected by the Municipal Affairs Bureau as they also searched for the people who came in contact with him.

Since March 15, Macau has recorded five new COVID-19 cases.

Health officials, meanwhile said, these new cases are considered "mild and imported cases." -- BAP, GMA News
