34 more Filipinos abroad test positive for COVID-19; total at 1,741

The number of Filipinos abroad who have tested positive for the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) rose to 1,741 on Saturday with 34 new infections, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said.

Of these, 1,069 are undergoing treatment across the Asia Pacific Region, Europe, the Americas, and the Middle East or Africa.

Eleven more patients have survived the virus, bringing the total number of recoveries to 465 while the death toll increased to 207 with six new fatalities.

"It is our hope to see more recoveries in the coming days and eventually, zero fatalities among our people here and abroad," the DFA said.

According to data from the DFA, there are 163 patients undergoing treatment in the Asia Pacific Region, while 208 have recovered from the virus and two have died.

In the Middle East or Africa, patients undergoing treatment were recorded at 328 while recoveries at 22 and fatalities at 18.

The death toll in Europe, meanwhile, is at 69 while recoveries are at 118. A total of 328 patients are undergoing treatment in the region.

In the Americas, the region with the highest number of deaths, fatalities are recorded at 118.

Meanwhile, 117 patients have recovered from the virus while 250 are still undergoing treatment. -MDM, GMA News
