DFA: No. of Pinoys abroad with COVID-19 climbs to 2,178 with 9 new deaths, 38 new infections, 66 new recoveries

Sixty-six more Filipinos abroad have survived the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), bringing the total to 640, according to the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA).

The total number of confirmed cases also climbed to 2,178 with 38 new infections, while patients undergoing treatment were recorded at 1,285.

Meanwhile, nine new deaths brought the death toll of Filipino nationals abroad to 253.

"Based on the reports received today, most of the confirmed cases among our nationals are found in Europe and Middle East, most recoveries are reported in the Asia and Pacific, and most number of deaths in the Americas," the DFA said.

Data from the DFA showed that patients undergoing treatment in the Asia Pacific region increased to 147 while recoveries and fatalities remained at 239 and two, respectively.

In Europe, fatalities increased by one to 78 while six more recoveries brought the total number to 159. Patients undergoing treatment were, meanwhile, recorded at 414.

Patients undergoing treatment in the Americas decreased to 193 while the number of recoveries jumped to 194. However, the death toll also rose to 136 with eight new deaths.

Meanwhile, no changes were reported in the Middle East or Africa with the number of patients undergoing treatment remaining at 531, recoveries at 48, and fatalities at 37. -MDM, GMA News
