Pinay COVID-19 survivor in Singapore: 'I want to go home'

A Filipino woman in Singapore who has just recovered form coronavirus disease 2019 is planning to go back to the Philippines, despite the prevailing health crisis in the country.

"May quarantine naman bago ako makakauwi sa bahay namin. Nag-negative na din naman ako and I'm willing to follow all the requirements or procedures before ako makauwi sa bahay namin to make sure that my family is safe pag-uwi ko," said Arniella Tan-Anonuevo, a 33-year-old skin care specialist in Singapore.

"Gusto ko kasing makasama ang mga anak ko at this time. For sure, they will cancel my pass but it's okay with me. Sa na-experience ko, mas gusto kong kasama mga anak ko and family ko because I don't know what will happen next," she added in an interview via Messenger last  Sunday.

Tan-Anonuevo has been alone when she had herself checked in the Raffles Hospital.

“Nung nilagnat ako ng 380, nagpunta na ako sa Raffles Hospital. Mag-isa lang ako nun. Takot na takot ako pero ayoko ko ilagay sa kapahamakan ang mga kasama ko sa bahay. Pinipigilan kong umiyak kasi wala akong choice kundi maging strong that time.”

She was assisted by a Filipina nurse in the hospital who called an ambulance to bring Tan-Anonuevo to the National Centre for Infectious Diseases (NCID).

“April 4 lumabas yung result, positive. Dinala ako sa Tan Toc Seng Hospital then nag-stay ako ng four days dun tapos nung na-observe ng doctor na okay na ako at mild case, nilipat ako sa Concord International Hospital for isolation at swab test every four days.”

It was her doctor from the Concord International Hospital that Tan-Anonuevo asked for a sort of a clearance.

"The certificate is not said for travel pass or travel clearance. It is a certificate na negative na ako from COVID-19."

All arriving overseas Filipino workers—land-based or sea-based—have been required to undergo a mandatory 14-day facility-based quarantine and a rapid antibody testing for COVID-19.

Passenger and commercial flights to and from the Philippines have been  temporarily suspended since May 3.

"Gustong-gusto ko ng umuwi kasi ang taas ng anxiety ko. Pakiramdam ko mag-isa ko though madami akong support from friends and family. Wala silang tigil kaka-message and calls pero iba pa rin na kasama ko ang mga anak ko at asawa ko."

“Hindi na naman ako makakahawa kasi hindi naman ako papalabasin ng hospital or isolation place dito sa Singapore if I have possibility na makahawa sa iba. Negative na ako,” she insisted. —LBG, GMA News
