757 Pinoys abroad have now recovered from COVID-19 — DFA

Eighty-eight additional Filipinos overseas have recovered from the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), bringing the total number to 757, according to the Department of Foreign Affairs on Wednesday.

The DFA said the daily rate of Filipino recoveries abroad increased by 13.15%.

Meanwhile, the number of Filipinos overseas infected with the illness soared to 2,310 with 77 new infections. Of the number, 1,284 are undergoing treatment.

The DFA also recorded eight new deaths from the viral disease, raising the death toll to 269.

Europe still had the highest number of COVID-19-positive Filipinos at 682, followed by the Middle East or Africa with 673.

The Asia Pacific Region, on the other hand, still had the least number of infections with 421.

The Americas, meanwhile, logged the most number of fatalities at 146.

Globally, COVID-19 has infected over 4 million people and claimed nearly 300,000 lives.

In the Philippines, a total of 11,618 infections have been reported, including 772 deaths and 2,251 recoveries. — RSJ, GMA News
