COVID-19 cases among Pinoys abroad now at 2,461 —DFA

The number of Filipinos overseas who contracted the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) rose to 2,461 on Thursday after the Department of Foreign Affairs reported six new infections.

Three more patients have recovered from the virus, bringing the total recoveries abroad to 861, while patients undergoing treatment were recorded at 1,315.

The DFA also said the death toll increased to 285 with one new fatality.

Europe still had the highest number of Filipino COVID-19 infections at 752, while Middle East/Africa followed with 713.

The Asia Pacific, meanwhile, remained as the region with the fewest number of cases at 452 and highest number of recoveries at 326.

The Americas, on the other hand, recorded the highest number of Filipino COVID-19 fatalities at 149.

“The DFA, through its Foreign Service Posts, remains fully committed to attending to the needs of our people abroad affected by this pandemic, whenever possible,” the department said. — Ma. Angelica Garcia/BM, GMA News
