COVID-19 cases among Filipinos abroad reach 2,664

The number of Filipinos overseas who have contracted the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) reached 2,664 on Wednesday after the Department of Foreign Affairs recorded 29 new infections.

Twenty-five more Filipinos, meanwhile, recovered from the disease, bringing the total number of recoveries abroad to 930, while patients undergoing treatment are at 1,400.

The death toll climbed to 334 after six new fatalities were reported.

Europe remained the region with the most number of COVID-19 positive Filipinos at 801 with 90 deaths, 252 recoveries and 459 undergoing treatment.

The Middle East/Africa followed with 757 cases including 92 fatalities, 124 recoveries and 541 undergoing treatment.

In the Americas, cases of COVID-19 among Filipinos soared to 633 with 150 deaths, 212 recoveries and 271 undergoing treatment.

The Asia Pacific Region, meanwhile, had the least number of cases with 473 including two deaths, 342 recoveries and 129 undergoing treatment. -NB, GMA News
