157 more Filipinos abroad test positive for COVID-19 -DFA

The number of Filipinos abroad who have tested positive for the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) jumped to 2,821 on Thursday after the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) reported 157 new infections.

According to the DFA, the sudden spike is due to numbers received from a Middle Eastern country where data has not been updated for almost two months.

Meanwhile, four more patients have recovered from the virus, bringing the total recoveries to 934, while fatalities remained at 334.

Patients undergoing treatment are recorded at 1,553.

Data from the DFA showed that the number of recoveries in the Asia Pacific region increased by four to 346 while patients undergoing treatment rose to 135. The death toll remained at two.

In the Middle East or Africa, patients undergoing treatment climbed to 683 while recoveries and fatalities remained at 124 and 92, respectively.

Patients undergoing treatment in Europe also increased to 464 while fatalities are recorded at 90 and recoveries at 252.

No new cases are recorded in the Americas with recoveries at 212, fatalities at 150, and patients undergoing treatment at 271. -MDM, GMA News
