Majority of Filipinos with COVID-19 in Singapore have recovered —ambassador

Majority of the 150 Filipinos who contracted COVID-19 in Singapore have recovered, Ambassador Joseph Del Mar Yap said Thursday.

Of the 150 cases, 102 have been discharged from hospitals while 48 are still in medical facilities. Singapore has reported 41,126 COVID-19 infections, the second highest so far in Southeast Asia behind Indonesia (41,431).

The ambassador reminded Filipinos to observe social distancing measures to prevent the spread of the virus.

“We continue naman to advise ‘yung mga kababayan natin dito on ‘yung mga latest announcements coming from the Singapore government on what are the procedures that they have to follow to remain safe,” Yap said in a televised briefing.

Yap also reported that 1,436 displaced overseas Filipino workers have received the one-time financial assistance of P10,000 from the Department of Labor and Employment. He said the embassy had also provided food and care packages to Filipinos stranded in Singapore.—AOL, GMA News
