DFA logs 1 new COVID-19 case, 1 new death among Pinoys abroad

The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) on Sunday said it recorded one new case of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) among Filipinos abroad, bringing the total number of infections to 6,141. 

One new fatality also brought the death toll to 496, while total recoveries rose to 2,862 after 11 more Filipinos overseas recovered from the respiratory disease.

The Middle East and Africa region has the highest number of COVID-19-positive Filipinos at 3,945 with 1,692 recoveries and 236 fatalities.

Europe has recorded 937 Filipino COVID-19 cases with 305 recoveries and 94 deaths.

In the Americas, 685 Filipinos have contracted COVID-19, 373 of whom have recovered while 164 have died.

Meanwhile, the Asia Pacific Region has the lowest number of COVID-19-positive Filipinos at 574 with 492 recoveries and two fatalities. — Julia Mari Ornedo/BM, GMA News
