OFWs stuck in storage room in Saudi think they got COVID-19 from employer

Three overseas Filipino workers in Saudi Arabia who believe they contracted the coronavirus disease 2019 from their employer said they were being kept in a storage room without help or medical attention.

According to JP Soriano’s Wednesday report on “24 Oras,” Jonnalyn Pobre and her two fellow OFWs have been staying in a storage room without being brought to the hospital.

A video taken by Pobre shows her fellow worker Julie Anne in hysterics as she struggles to breathe while her roommates try to calm her down.

Last week, the OFWs spoke to Overseas Workers Welfare Administrator Hans Leo Cacdac about their situation.

“Ang kailangan po talagang isagawa diyan ay ma-pull out sila at madala sa medical authorities, sa ospital, sa doktor para sila ay mabigyan ng agarang treatment sa kanilang sitwasyon. Yan ang pinaka-urgent ngayon,” Cacdac had said in an “Unang Hirit” interview.

On Wednesday, Cacdac said the agency was working to save the three OFWs.

“Isinasaayos na po ang kanilang pagsagip. Ginagawan na po ng paraan ng ating POLO (Philippine Overseas Labor Office) and Welfare Office,” he told GMA News. -Julia Mari Ornedo/MDM, GMA News
