Filipinos abroad with COVID-19 now at 8,433 –DFA

The number of Filipinos overseas who contracted the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) climbed to 8,433 on Sunday after the Department of Foreign Affairs reported one new infection.

The death toll also increased to 538 with two new fatalities.

Meanwhile, no new recoveries were recorded among Filipinos abroad.

The Middle East/Africa still has the highest number of COVID-19 positive Filipinos at 6,168 with 3,777 recoveries and 278 deaths.

Europe followed with 982 infections including 420 recoveries and 94 fatalities.

In the Americas, a total of 686 Filipinos were infected with the viral disease, 373 of whom have recovered while 164 have died.

The Asia Pacific Region, meanwhile, has recorded 597 cases with 511 recoveries and two deaths.

So far, the DFA said the number of countries with confirmed COVID-19 cases among overseas Filipinos was at 59. — DVM, GMA News
