DFA: 34 more Filipinos abroad infected with COVID-19

The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) on Monday recorded 34 new cases of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) among Filipinos overseas, bringing the total tally to 8,467.

The DFA also said total recoveries increased to 5,091 after 10 more Filipino recovered from the illness, while the death toll climbed to 547 with nine new fatalities.


To date, the Middle East/Africa remained to be the region with the most number of confirmed COVID-19 cases among Filipinos abroad at 6,195 with 287 deaths and 3,787 recoveries.

Europe still followed with 988 infections, including 420 recoveries and 94 fatalities.

In the Americas, a total of 686 Filipinos were infected with the viral disease. Of the number, 1264 have died, while 373 have recovered.

The Asia Pacific Region, meanwhile, has recorded 598 cases with two fatalities and 511 recoveries.—AOL, GMA News
