DFA: Filipinos abroad with COVID-19 now at 8,474 with 7 new cases

The number of Filipinos abroad who have tested positive for the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) climbed to 8,474 on Tuesday after the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) reported seven new infections.

The DFA also announced that 10 more Filipinos abroad have recovered from the illness, bringing the total to 5,101, while fatalities increased to 549 with two new cases.

Meanwhile, the total number of countries with confirmed COVID-19 cases among  Filipino nationals increased to 60 with one new country in Africa.

As of June 30, there are 2,824 patients still undergoing treatment.

Data from the DFA showed a total of 604 cases in the Asia Pacific Region with 81 patients undergoing treatment. Ten more recoveries brought the total to 521 while the death toll remained at two.

The Middle East or Africa reported a total of 6,196 cases with 2,120 patients undergoing treatment. Recoveries in the region remained at 3,787 while fatalities rose to 289 with two new cases.

Meanwhile, no new cases were reported in Europe with the total remaining at 988, patients undergoing treatment at 474, recoveries at 420, and fatalities at 94.

The Americas also reported no new cases with the total remaining at 686 cases, patients undergoing treatment at 149, recoveries at 373, and fatalities at 164. -MDM, GMA News
