12 more Filipinos abroad get COVID-19 —DFA

The Department of Foreign Affairs on Monday reported 12 new cases of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) among Filipinos overseas, bringing the total tally to 9,908.

Total recoveries also rose to 5,844 after two more Filipinos defeated the illness, while the death toll increased to 726 with one new fatality.

 


The Middle East or Africa remained to be the region with the highest number of confirmed COVID-19 cases among Filipinos abroad at 6,902 with 445 deaths and 4,122 recoveries.

Europe followed with 1,146 infections, including 95 fatalities and 559 recoveries.

The Asia Pacific Region, meanwhile, has recorded 1,069 cases with eight deaths and 709 recoveries.

In the Americas, a total of 791 Filipinos were infected with the disease. Of the number, 178 have died, while 454 have recovered.

“As DFA personnel in our Foreign Service Posts continue to report on the status of Filipinos abroad, the DFA remains steadfast in its tireless efforts to attend to the needs of our people and facilitating requests for repatriation, whenever possible,” the DFA said. —LDF, GMA News
