Pinoys abroad with COVID-19 exceed 10k — DFA

The number of Filipinos overseas who contracted the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) surpassed 10,000 on Monday after the Department of Foreign Affairs reported 19 new infections, bringing the total to 10,003.

The DFA also announced that total recoveries climbed to 6,014 with 61 new ones, while nine more fatalities brought the death toll to 742.

The Middle East/Africa remained to be the region with the highest number of confirmed COVID-19 cases among Filipinos abroad at 6,946 with 461 deaths and 4,156 recoveries.

Europe followed with 1,158 infections, including 95 fatalities and 656 recoveries.

In the Asia Pacific Region, 1,107 Filipinos were infected with the virus. Of the number, eight have died, while 748 have recovered.

The Americas, meanwhile, has reported 792 cases with 178 fatalities and 454 recoveries.—LDF, GMA News
