DFA: 9 more Filipinos abroad recover from COVID-19, total at 6,284

Nine more Filipinos abroad have recovered from the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), bringing the total to 6,284, according to the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA).

The DFA also announced that the total number of confirmed cases rose to 10,116 with three new infections. At present, there are 3,074 patients still undergoing treatment.

One more fatality, meanwhile, brought the death toll to 758.

“Compared to last week’s percentages, the total number of Filipinos who have recovered from COVID-19 increased to 62.12 percent of the total confirmed cases, while those who are under treatment saw a slight decrease to 30.39 percent,” the DFA said.

“Meanwhile, the percentage of fatalities among COVID-19-affected Filipinos abroad saw a slight decrease to 7.5 percent,” it added.

Data from the DFA showed that there are a total of 1,175 cases in the Asia and the Pacific region with 307 patients undergoing treatment. The region has reported 860 recoveries and eight fatalities.

In the Middle East or Africa, there are 6,975 COVID-19 cases. Of this, 2,334 patients are undergoing treatment, 4,164 have recovered, and 477 have died.

Europe has reported 1,168 cases with 269 patients undergoing treatment. A total of 804 patients in the region have recovered while 95 have succumbed to the illness.

A total of 798 cases were meanwhile recorded in the Americas. Among this, 164 are patients undergoing treatment, 456 have recovered, and 178 have died. -MDM, GMA News
