Number of Filipinos abroad with COVID-19 now at 10,168 — DFA

The number of Filipinos abroad who have tested positive for the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) rose to 10,168 on Friday after the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) announced six new cases.

Meanwhile, eight more overseas patients have recovered from the illness, bringing the total to 6,421, while the death toll remained at 768.

At present, there are 2,979 patients still undergoing treatment.

Data from the DFA showed a total of 1,194 cases in the Asia and the Pacific region —  301 are patients undergoing treatment, 885 have recovered, while eight have succumbed to the illness.

In the Middle East or Africa, there are a total of 7,002 COVID-19 cases with 2,310 patients undergoing treatment. The region has reported 4,205 recoveries and 487 fatalities.

Meanwhile, Europe has reported 1,169 cases with 201 patients undergoing treatment. A total of 873 patients have recovered in the region while 95 have died.

A total of 803 cases have also been recorded in the Americas. Among this, 167 patients are undergoing treatment, 458 have recovered, and 178 have succumbed to the disease. — Joahna Lei Casilao/RSJ, GMA News
