21 more Filipinos abroad get COVID-19; total reaches 10,411 —DFA

The number of Filipinos overseas who contracted COVID-19 climbed to 10,411 on Monday after the Department of Foreign Affairs reported 21 new infections.

Total recoveries also rose to 6,619 after 25 more Filipinos defeated the illness.

The death toll, meanwhile, increased to 778 with one new fatality.

The Middle East or Africa remained to be the region with the most number of confirmed COVID-19 cases among Filipinos abroad at 7,068 with 497 deaths and 4,248 recoveries.

Europe followed with 1,174 infections, including 95 fatalities and 890 recoveries.

The Asia Pacific Region, meanwhile, has recorded 1,362 cases with eight deaths and 1,018 recoveries.

In the Americas, 807 Filipinos were infected with the virus. Of the number, 178 have died, while 463 have recovered.

“The DFA, together with its Foreign Service Posts, continues to partner with host governments to ensure the safety and well-being of Filipino nationals abroad amid the pandemic,” the department said. — Ma. Angelica Garcia/BM, GMA News
