COVID-19 cases among Pinoys abroad now at 10,419

The number of Filipinos abroad who contracted the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) climbed to 10,419 on Wednesday after the Department of Foreign Affairs reported two new infections.

The death toll also increased to 785 with six additional fatalities.

Meanwhile, no new recoveries were reported among Filipinos overseas.

The Middle East/Africa remained to be the region with the highest number of confirmed COVID-19 cases among Filipinos abroad at 7,068 with 504 deaths and 4,248 recoveries.

The Asia Pacific Region followed with 1,366 infections, including eight fatalities and 1,026 recoveries.

In Europe, 1,177 Filipinos were infected with the disease. Of the number, 95 have died, while 892 have recovered.

The Americas, meanwhile, has recorded 808 cases with 178 fatalities and 463 recoveries.

In the Philippines, cases of COVID-19 leapt to 294,591 on Wednesday with 231,373  recoveries and 5,091 deaths. — Ma. Angelica Garcia/BM, GMA News
