DFA: 5 more Filipinos abroad test positive for COVID-19

Five more Filipinos abroad have tested positive for the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), bringing the total to 10,544, according to the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA).

The DFA also announced that total recoveries rose to 6,749 with four new ones while the death toll remained at 793.

At present, there are a total of 3,002 patients still undergoing treatment.

Based on data from the DFA,  there are a total of 1,435 cases in Asia and the Pacific region. Among these, 359 patients are still undergoing treatment, 1,068 have recovered, and eight have succumbed to the illness.

In the Middle East or Africa, there are 7,100 cases with 2,311 patients still undergoing treatment. The region has reported 4,277 recoveries and 512 fatalities.

Europe, meanwhile, has reported 1,199 cases. A total of 166 patients in the region are still undergoing treatment while 938 have recovered and 95 have died.

A total of 810 cases were reported in the Americas with 166 patients undergoing treatment. The recoveries in the region were recorded at 466 while the death toll was recorded at 178.—Joahna Lei Casilao/LDF, GMA News
