Filipinos abroad with COVID-19 now at 10,549 —DFA

The number of Filipinos abroad who have tested positive for the coronavirus disease 2019 climbed to 10,549 on Saturday with five new infections, the Department of Foreign Affairs said.

One more patient has also recovered from the illness, bringing the number of total recoveries to 6,750. The death toll stood at 793.

At present, there are 3,006 Filipinos still undergoing treatment abroad.

“Compared to last week’s percentages, the total number of recoveries, and under treatment among Pinoys abroad increased slightly to 63.99 percent and 28.50 percent, respectively;  while total fatalities due to COVID-19 saw a slight decrease at 7.52 percent,” the DFA said.

Data from the DFA show there are a total of 1,440 cases in Asia and the Pacific region with 363 patients still undergoing treatment, 1,069 recoveries, and eight fatalities.

Meanwhile, the Middle East or Africa has reported 7,100 cases with 2,311 patients undergoing treatment. A total of 4,277 patients in the region have recovered while 512 have died.

In Europe, a total of 1,199 cases were recorded. Among this, 166 are patients undergoing treatment, 938 have recovered, and 95 have succumbed to the illness.

The Americas have reported a total of 810 cases with 166 patients undergoing treatment. The region has recorded 466 recoveries and 178 fatalities. —LBG, GMA News
