Filipinos abroad with COVID-19 now at 10,864 — DFA

The number of Filipinos abroad who have tested positive for the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) rose to 10,864 on Friday after the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) reported three new infections.

Meanwhile, four more Filipino nationals have recovered from the illness, bringing the total tally to 6,919, while the death toll remained at 800.

At present, there are 3,145 patients still undergoing treatment.

Data from the DFA showed a total of 1,711 cases in Asia and the Pacific region with 498 patients undergoing treatment. The region has recorded a total of 1,204 recoveries and nine fatalities.

Meanwhile, the Middle East or Africa has reported a total of 7,137 COVID-19 cases. Among this, 2,312 are patients undergoing treatment, 4,307 have recovered, and 518 have succumbed to the illness.

There are also 1,206 cases recorded in Europe. The region has reported a total of 169 patients undergoing treatment, 942 recoveries, and 95 fatalities.

The Americas, meanwhile, has reported a total of 810 cases with 166 patients undergoing treatment. Recoveries and fatalities in the region were recorded at 466 and 178, respectively. — Joahna Lei Casilao/RSJ, GMA News
