26 more Filipinos abroad get COVID-19 — DFA

The Department of Foreign Affairs on Tuesday reported 26 new cases of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) among Filipinos overseas, bringing the total tally to 11,108.

Total recoveries also rose to 7,170 after 34 more Filipinos defeated the illness, while the death toll increased to 810 with eight new fatalities.

The Middle East or Africa remained to be the region with the highest number of confirmed COVID-19 cases among Filipinos abroad at 7,355 with 528 deaths and 4,537 recoveries.

Europe followed with 1,209 infections, including 95 fatalities and 943 recoveries.

The Asia Pacific Region, meanwhile, has recorded 1,734 cases with nine deaths and 1,224 recoveries.

In the Americas, a total of 810 Filipinos were infected with the disease. Of the number, 178 have died, while 466 have recovered. — Ma. Angelica Garcia/RSJ, GMA News
