DFA: Filipinos abroad with COVID-19 now at 11,186

The number of Filipinos abroad who have tested positive for the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) rose to 11,186 on Wednesday after the Department of Foreign Affairs reported eight new infections.

According to the DFA, 10 more Filipino nationals have recovered from the illness, bringing the total to 7,244, while the death toll remained at 815.

Meanwhile, there are 3,127 patients still undergoing treatment.

“To date, the total number of countries and regions with confirmed cases among Filipinos remains at 81,” the DFA said.

Data from the DFA showed a total of 1,786 cases in Asia and the Pacific Region with 508 patients still undergoing treatment. The region has recorded 1,269 recoveries and nine fatalities.

The Middle East or Africa has also recorded 7,369 cases. Of this, 2,295 are still undergoing treatment, 4,542 have recovered, and 532 have succumbed to the disease.

A total of 1,215 cases were, meanwhile, reported in Europe with 168 patients undergoing treatment. Recoveries and fatalities in the region were recorded at 952 and 95, respectively.

Meanwhile, the Americas has recorded 816 cases with 156 still undergoing treatment. A total of 481 patients in the region have recovered while 179 have died.—Joahna Lei Casilao/LDF, GMA News
