Israel needs 500 Filipino caregivers at US$1,500 a month


Israel is in need of at least 500 Filipino caregivers, the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) said Tuesday.

According to JP Soriano’s report on “24 Oras,” the POEA said the hiring of workers would be under a government-to-government scheme which ensures that the rights of the Filipinos will be protected.

The POEA said 90% of those who will be selected are women, while 10% are men.

Qualified applicants for the said post are not required to pay a placement fee but will have to shoulder minimal fees in processing some documents.

The monthly salary for nurses is pegged at $1,500 or more than P75,000.

POEA administrator Bernard Olalia said applicants should be at least 23 years old, meet the height requirement of at least 4’11” and the weight requirement of at least 45 kilograms.

Moreover, applicants should be a high school graduate and should have finished the caregiving course at Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA).

“Baka may pasyente silang medyo mabigat, hindi puwedeng maliit ‘yong ating caregiver,” Olalia said.

The contract will be for a maximum of five years.

Those who will be qualified for the post will have to shoulder their air fare.
