DFA: Filipinos abroad with COVID-19 now at 11,559 but recoveries saw 'slight increase'

Another Filipino abroad has tested positive for the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) on Saturday, bringing the total to 11,559, according to the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA).

Meanwhile, total recoveries and fatalities remained at 7,478 and 834, respectively, with no new reports.

At present, there are 3,247 patients still undergoing treatment.

“Compared to last week’s percentages, the total number of COVID-19 fatalities and those under treatment slightly decreased to 7.22 percent and 28.09 percent, respectively,” the DFA said.

“Meanwhile, recoveries saw a slight increase to 64.69 percent,” it added.

Data from the DFA showed 1,888 cases in Asia and the Pacific region with 559 still undergoing treatment. A total of 1,320 patients in the region have recovered and nine have died.

In the Middle East or Africa, there were 7,530 cases recorded. Among this, 2,329 were still undergoing treatment while 4,652 have recovered and 549 have succumbed to the illness.

Europe has reported a total of 1,311 cases with 228 patients undergoing treatment. Recoveries and fatalities in the region were recorded at 986 and 97, respectively.

A total of 830 cases were, meanwhile, recorded in the Americas with 131 patients undergoing treatment, 520 recoveries, and 179 fatalities. -MDM, GMA News
