DFA: 18 more Pinoys abroad infected with COVID-19

The Department of Foreign Affairs on Monday recorded 18 new cases of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) among Filipinos abroad, raising the total tally to 11,692.

The DFA said total recoveries also increased to 7,577 after 12 more Filipinos recovered from the respiratory illness.

The death toll, meanwhile, climbed to 847 with one new fatality.

To date, the Middle East/Africa remained to be the region with the most number of confirmed COVID-19 cases among Filipinos abroad at 7,544 with 553 deaths and 4,657 recoveries.

Europe still followed with 1,414 infections, including 96 fatalities and 1010 recoveries.

In the Asia Pacific Region, a total of 1,965 Filipinos were infected with the virus. Of this number, nine have died, while 1,389 have recovered.

The Americas, meanwhile, has recorded 769 cases with 189 fatalities and 521 recoveries.

“The DFA, together with its Foreign Service Posts, continues to partner with host governments to ensure the safety and well-being of Filipino nationals abroad amidst the pandemic,” the department said. — Ma. Angelica Garcia/BM, GMA News
