DFA: 28 more Filipinos abroad test positive for COVID-19

The number of Filipinos abroad who have tested positive for the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) climbed to 12,875 on Tuesday after the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) announced that there are 28 new infections.

According to the DFA, 10 more patients have also recovered from the illness, bringing the total to 8.386, while the death toll climbed to 911.

Meanwhile, there are 3,578 Filipino nationals still undergoing treatment.

Data from the DFA showed that there are at least 2,664 cases in Asia and the Pacific region with 788 patients undergoing treatment. Recoveries and fatalities in the region were recorded at 1,855 and 21, respectively.

In the Middle East or Africa, there were 7,658 cases recorded with 2,403 patients undergoing treatment, 4,677 recoveries, and 578 fatalities.

In Europe, there are at least 1,772 cases with 325 patients undergoing treatment. There are at least 1,329 Filipinos in the region who recovered from the disease while 118 have died.

Meanwhile, a total of 781 cases were recorded in the Americas with 62 patients undergoing treatment. The region has reported 525 recoveries and 194 fatalities. -- Joahna Lei Casilao/BAP, GMA News
