DFA: Filipinos abroad with COVID-19 now at 12,876


The number of Filipinos abroad who have tested positive for the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) increased to 12,876 on Wednesday after the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) reported one new infection.

According to the DFA, one more Filipino national has also recovered from the illness, bringing the total to 8,387, while the death toll remained at 911.

Meanwhile, there are 3,578 patients still undergoing treatment.

Based on data from the DFA, a total of 2,664 Filipinos have tested positive in Asia and the Pacific region with 788 still undergoing treatment. Recoveries and fatalities in the region were recorded at 1,855 and 21, respectively.

Meanwhile, 7,658 cases were reported in the Middle East or Africa. Among this, 2,403 were still undergoing treatment while 4,677 have recovered and 578 have succumbed to the illness.

A total of 1,772 cases were also recorded in Europe with 325 patients still undergoing treatment. The region has reported 1,329 recoveries and 118 fatalities.

In the Americas, 782 Filipino nationals have tested positive for the illness with 62 patients still undergoing treatment. A total of 526 patients in the region have recovered and 194 have died. — Joahna Lei Casilao/BM, GMA News
